Callwood Rum Distillery
Callwood Rum Distillery (Cane Garden Bay, Tortola) – located about 100 yards away from Cane Garden Bay’s beach, this distillery goes back 400 years. The Arundel Estate (the distillery’s original name) is the oldest, continuously operated rum-making facility in the Eastern Caribbean. For the last two hundred years, the Callwood family has handed down this manufacturing tradition in Cane Garden Bay from father to son. The distillery, a few hundred yards west of the Post Office, is a working museum. As the last distillery operating in Tortola, it is playing an important role in preserving the island heritage. The original boiler still operates and produces rum, which in then stored in original storage casks. The old guard house is also intact and has been turned into an art gallery and gift shop.
